What is Traditional Surrogacy?

In a traditional surrogacy arrangement generally, the surrogate is using her own egg that is artificially inseminated with the sperm of the Intended Father.

In Florida, these arrangements are called pre-planned adoptions and the surrogate has 48 hours after she gives birth where she may rescind her consent to surrender the child. In contrast, in a Gestational Surrogacy the surrogate has no legal rights to the child since it is not her genetic child.

Also, the Intended Parents may terminate the pre-planned adoption agreement before final transfer of any child and the Intended Mother would assume parental rights for the child or children. In this instance the Intended Father who is also the biological father would have to assume parental rights and responsibilities for the child.
